1st Nine Weeks

In the First nine weeks in Sports Marketing we learned many different things about marketing and how it works and all of the details. We did many different class discussions on different topics of marketing, as well as many different projects. We leaned the four P's, the seven key functions of marketing, and ended the nine weeks with STP.

The four P's of marketing are Product, Place, Price and Promotion. We leaned these the fist two weeks of school. We did a small activity for the four P's. Product is what a business offers to a customers to meet their needs such as a service or product. Place is where the product is sold at and where it will make the most money. Price is how much the product costs. Promotion is the advisement to promote product as in commercials and bill boards.

The seven key functions of marketing is what we did for the remainder of the six weeks. The first key function is Product/Service Management is designing, developing, maintaining, improving, and acquiring products or services to meet customer needs and we did an activity with designing our own product which was a soccer ball. The second key function is distribution is how company’s decide to get products to costumers as by train, truck, ship and airplane. We did a in class activity with salt ,water, and a straw, we had to get it across the room. The third of key function is selling is direct and personal communication with customs to assess and satisfy their needs also without personal commutation through the Internet. We posted commericals on our blog that promote the product The fourth key function is marketing- information management is gathering of information and using information about customer to improve business decision marking. We read a document on Beach Plums and that people like natural and new products. The fifth key function is financing is company to budget for marketing activities but also for customers with assistance in paying for a company’s product. The sixth key function is pricing is the process of establishing and value or cost of goods and services prices go up when demand is high and lower when demand is lower. We watched a video on Stephen Marbury and his shoes that cost $14.95 and that his shoes are made the same as Air Jordan and have the quality and had a class discussion on the video. The last key fuctoion is promotion is the advertising and information about product is used to sell product. We did a class decision slogans and how well people rember the slogan and posted commercials that stand out and people rember the slogan.

The last thing we leaned was STP. Segement, Target, and Promotion. The segemet is dividing up the product in catagioes or class. Target is who the prouct is targetion as in age or cultrue. Promotion is how we the procuct is promoted through advertiment.

Shoes... does it matter?

During class today we saw a video on Air Jordan and Stephen Marbury affordable Starbury shoes. Each shoe were made with the same material and the same quality as the other shoe.

Mrs. Maubry opportunity costs when Stephen was goring up. That he wanted a pair of shoes that cost $150. She had to say no to the shoes because they needed the money to pay for food and not enough for the shoes.

A want is something that you want to make life easier. A need is something that you need to survive.

I buy fashion based on the name brand and the comfort of the product.

Summer was to darn fast for me!! Did nothing most of the summer execpt party to hard and play baseball everyday. When i was not partying or baseball I was at the beach or out on the lake all day everyday. though for the last few weeks i had to read my summer reading books and had to stay home and read. Also i worked with my dad remodeling. I went on vacation with my family this summer to Florida which was a load of fun. Though summer went by fast it slowed down some times as when going to the DPSto get my licence which took forever.

In Sports Marketing i want to lean how marketing works and how spots market as well as products to market new things. As well as new things and i am ready to learn new things.
